Users, roles and permissions

Your team and your clients each see only what they should. The roles in Sourcing Management and how permissions work.

Every person who signs in to your site has a role. The role decides which screens they see, which records they can open and what they can change.

Roles in Sourcing Management

RoleWhat they can do
AdministratorEverything, including settings, your brand and users
Sourcing ManagerThe whole sourcing desk, including internal fields such as factory cost and margin
Sourcing AgentRequests, quotes and orders; cannot delete requests
ClientThe portal only: their own requests, quotes, orders and messages

The demo gives you three of them as ready logins (Admin, Manager and Client). See Try the demo.

What clients never see

Clients sign in to the portal, not the back office. Factory names, factory prices and your margin never reach them. See the Client portal guide.

How permissions work

  • Per role, per kind of record. Permissions are set on each kind of record (request, factory, invoice and so on): read, write, create, delete, submit.
  • Per owner. A client user sees only the records of their own company.
  • Per field. Internal fields are hidden from roles that should not see them.
  • Logged. The activity log records who changed what and when.

Adding people

The Administrator adds team members and gives each a role. Clients are invited from their customer record and set their own password from the invitation email. There are no per-user fees on the Sourcing Management plan.
